Combermere Road reopened after OPP investigate serious collision

Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a serious two-vehicle collision involving a passenger car and SUV in Madawaska Valley Township. 

On June 16, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m. police were called to the collision on Combermere Road. Preliminary investigation indicates that a northbound passenger car collided head-on with a southbound SUV. The SUV left the roadway and rolled but the occupants escaped with minor injuries and were transported to hospital by Renfrew County Paramedics.    

The driver of the car had to be extricated by the Madawaska Valley Fire Department. They were transported to hospital by Renfrew County Paramedics and subsequently transferred to an Ottawa-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.   

A section of Combermere Road between Lakeshore Drive and Old Barrys Bay road was closed for several hours due to the collision. 

The investigation is continuing.
