President/Chair Wendy Wolak says, “As a lake association, our heart is in protecting the pristine waters, wildlife, and landscapes we call home. We’re so excited to donate these books to the Madawaska Valley Public Library! Since the library is such a wonderful hub for our community, we knew it was the perfect place to help us reach more people and hopefully inspire a new generation of local caretakers.

“We chose books focused on stewardship because we want to help kids connect with nature early on. It’s about more than just “learning”—it’s about helping them see their own role in protecting the environment.”

Why is this important to Madawaska Valley? Wendy explains, “People often call the Madawaska Valley ‘paradise,’ and it truly is. But even paradise needs a helping hand. We’ve noticed fewer loons on the water, declining dragonfly populations and rarer sightings of fireflies and luna moths. Invasive species are putting our local biodiversity at risk, and it doesn’t stop there. We believe that every small act of care can make a huge impact, and we’re so happy to partner with the library to inspire the next generation of stewards.”
