There’s plenty of summer time left to enjoy in the Valley. Here are a few coming events you may find of interest:

Roller Skate this weekend in support of the Barry’s Bay and Area Skate Club. Join in the back-to-school event on Saturday, Aug.29th or come out to the final roller skating date of the summer on Sunday, Aug.30th 1-3pm. Cost $10 each or $40 per family. Rentals available on-site $12. Canteen open, Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre, Arena Road, Barry’s Bay.

Enjoy the taste of summer at local farmers’ markets. Each offers a high number of local vendors and amazing homemade items both local and fresh. The outdoor markets are open until Thanksgiving weekend in October.

  • Barry’s Bay – Every Friday from 10am to 4pm next to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 406, 250 John St. in Barry’s Bay.
  • Combermere – Every Saturday from 8am to 11:30am at Hwy.62 and Mill Street in Combermere.
  • Killaloe – Every Saturday from 9am to 1pm in Station Park, downtown Killaloe.

22nd Annual Friends of St.Francis Charity Golf Tournament kicks off next Friday Sept.4th at 11am at Homestead at Wolf Ridge in Killaloe. Funds raised go towards the purchase of a new X-Ray machine for St.Francis Memorial Hospital. For more details visit St.Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation.

Countdown Moves continues next weekend on Saturday, Sept.5th with a walking (or rolling) one-way route from Killaloe to Pikwakanagan. This event springs from the Countdown Public Art pebble mosaics created in the spirit of collective action to end gender-based violence. For more details or to register visit Redefine Arts website.
