Labour Day weekend traditionally marks the end of summer, but by no means is it a signal that events in the Valley will decrease. The Current is pleased to remind you of some upcoming local happenings.
The Seed and Stone Farmstand will be open this Saturday from 10am-12pm at 809 Rockingham Road. On offer you will find sourdough bread and pastries, produce, coffee, fresh pressed apple cider, and more.
If you can’t make this weekend’s event, there’s still time to join in Countdown Moves later this month. On Saturday, 19th September you can join in the walk from Countdown Public Art’s pebble mosaic at Pikwakanagan to the pebble mosaic in Eganville. Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO) hosts tours of two Ottawa Valley farms on Saturday, 12th September from 1pm-5:30pm. Visitors can learn about rotational grazing, on-farm tree planting, and more as they witness operations at Dobson’s Grassfed Beef (Cobden) and Opeongo Springs Homestead (Eganville). Ticket prices are $10 (members) and $15, and include participation in both tours and light refreshments. Driving time between the two farms is approximately 35 minutes. Redefine Arts has announced Beloved Remembered, a new storytelling and handmade book arts program for older adults in Killaloe and surrounding areas. Through storytelling, creativity, and conversation, participants of the Beloved Remembered program will reflect on the people, places, traditions, and experiences that have shaped their lives while creating handmade books to share with family, friends, and future generations.
The Beloved Remembered program includes seven workshops taking place from October 2026 to January 2027, and an exhibition and community feast in February 2027. No artistic experience is necessary.
