Marie was a dedicated volunteer at the library, most recently spending countless hours organizing the used book sale. Working with volunteer Betty Kirby, their weekly sessions quickly became cherished social time. They took great pleasure in recommending books to patrons, and setting aside books for regular customers.

One of Marie’s mottos was, “Don’t avoid used books with worn spines and torn covers. They are that way for a reason and often contain the best stories.”

Kidz Kastle’s preschool group were often blessed to have Marie, a retired school teacher, read to them at the library’s story time on Wednesday mornings. Upon entering the library, the children would ask if Mrs. Landon was there. Marie would sit on the floor, with children all around her, and engage them in several stories. Marie loved the children as much as they loved her.

Marie’s love of the library was passed down to her children: Both her daughter, Anne Marie, and grand-daughter, Julia, worked at the library as teens.

The board is appreciative to have received a donation from Marie’s estate. She is remembered on a plaque in the book sale area, and on a plaque for platinum donors, and forever in our hearts.
