Madawaska Valley District High School graduation

The conversation of friends and family members gathered in the school lobby to celebrate the achievements of this year’s graduating class on June 28 demonstrated how much impact Madawaska Valley District High School (MVDHS) has had on the region since it opened in 1967. We found families where as many as three generations had attended MVDHS. The excitement of the new graduates was palpable as every one of those young people aimed to look their best and yet appear nonchalant and mature in an unfamiliar graduation gown and cap.

The evening’s full programme included the usual music, laughter, speeches, photo sessions and a lengthy list of scholarships and bursary awards. Click HERE to see this year’s recipients.

The 2018 Valedictorian was Matthew Kelley whose address touched all the right sentiments:

  • optimism for the future
  • nostalgic coming-of-age recollections
  • gracious appreciation for the support of family and school staff
  • witty reminders of youthful high jinks

The Current congratulates the members of the MVDHS 2018 graduating class on their achievements and wishes these young people all the best in their future endeavours.
