Killaloe OPP news as of Sept. 4 2018

During the week of August 27, 2018, to September 3, 2018 there were 152 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

  • There were twelve motor vehicle collisions, two were animal related.
  • There were four domestic dispute calls for service, and no domestic disputes resulting in criminal code charges.

Motor Vehicle Collision, Impaired Charges

On Sunday September 2, 2018 at approximately 2:11 pm, members of the Killaloe and Upper Ottawa Valley OPP responded to a single vehicle collision involving a pickup truck on Round Lake Road, in Killaloe Hagarty and Richards Twp. As a result of police investigation 25 yr. old Bryan MULLIN of Killaloe Hagarty and Richards Twp. was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation and Over 80 contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Tuesday October 9, 2018 at 9:00 am, Ontario Court of Justice Pembroke. The vehicle was towed, and the licence suspended for 90 days. There were no reported injuries.

Obstruct Peace Officer Charge

On Monday August 27, 2018 at approximately 2:19 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Steve Regan responded to a citizen tip that a male wanted on the strength of a warrant was seen on Opeongo Line, Madawaska Valley Twp. As a result of police investigation, 70 yr. old Albert COULAS of Madawaska Valley Twp. was arrested, and subsequently charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was transported to the Killaloe OPP detachment and held pending a bail court hearing, Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke.

Collisions

On Saturday September 1, 2018 at approximately 12:44 am, Killaloe OPP Constable Jesse Kisters responded to a single vehicle collision involving a side by side vehicle on Corrigan Road, Bonnechere Valley Twp. One male passenger was transported to hospital with minor injuries. This incident remains under investigation.

On Sunday September 2, 2018 at approximately 8:12 pm, members of the Killaloe OPP responded to a single vehicle rollover over collision involving a passenger car on Foymount Road, Bonnechere Valley Twp. The 73 yr. old female driver from Bonnechere Valley Twp. was transported to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. The vehicle was towed. This incident remains under investigation.

Theft

On Monday August 27, 2018 at approximately 3:15 pm, Killaloe OPP investigated an incident of theft in Killaloe Hagarty and Richards Twp. Several election signs were reported stolen. This incident remains under investigation.

Labour Day Long Weekend Campaign Results, Killaloe OPP Detachment

The Labour Day Long Weekend Traffic Campaign which began on August 31, 2018 has concluded. The Killaloe OPP detachment reports the following statistics:

  • 1 Stunt Driving Charge
  • 6 Seatbelt Charges
  • 5 Distracted Driving Charges
  • 4 Highway Traffic Act Charges
  • 3 Liquor Licence Act Charges
  • 3 Compulsory Automobile Act Charges
  • 1 Impaired Charge
  • 4 Marine Charges
  • 2 Other Provincial Statutes Charges
