Wilno Rink – last stop for shopping and first stop for fun

The Wilno Rink may be your last stop for Christmas shopping, but it can be your first stop for fun in the New Year.

Work at the Wilno Rink remains on schedule and the building’s interior is being finished now. Volunteers hope to start flooding soon and provide great ice by the end of this year for holiday skating. The Wilno Recreation Committee plans a grand opening Moccasin Dance as well as some broomball tournaments in 2019. Watch out for a ball tournament next June.

In the meantime there are still many ways you can get involved and support this project to offset costs, says Joanne Plebon of the Wilno Recreation Committee.

  • If you’re stuck for last-minute Christmas gifts, how about a Wilno Rink hat as shown above? Hats cost just $16 and are available from Joanne Plebon or Committee members Con Leahy and Rob Bersan. Just email wilnorink@gmail.com or message Joanne and Con on Facebook Messenger to place your order.
  • You could also give a gift of a Season usage pass to the rink, at $20 Single/year or $35 Family/year.

Payment for the above items or cash donations in any amount can be made via e-transfer to wilnorink@gmail.com   Your gift benefits not just the recipient but also goes towards a great community cause.

Although the Donate button on the Wilno Rink Facebook page is not in operation yet, you can click HERE to check for upcoming events

Below are some recent photos of the Wilno Rink taken by Sharon Gardiner showing the exterior, interior and the new wood stove.
