OPP driving tips to avoid animal collisions

  • Be vigilant during the morning and evening commutes as visibility is reduced and animals are more active
  • Reduce your speed and pay attention to signage that indicates higher deer traffic areas
  • Scan the road, and remember that deer don’t travel alone, where there is one animal, there is likely another
  • Do not take unsafe evasive actions, serious collisions can occur when drivers lose control of their vehicles
