On July 3, 2019 The Current reported on a major drug bust in Bancroft. According to a media release dated August 17 from OPP East Region Headquarters, execution of a search warrant has resulted in another Bancroft drug bust, this time including firearms.
On August 15, 2019 members of the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU Bancroft, Centre Hastings and Quinte West) assisted with the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Tactics & Rescue Unit (TRU) executed a search warrant at a residence located on Woodview Lane in the Town of Bancroft, Ontario.
OPP officers seized a quantity of illegal drugs (Crystal Meth, Cocaine), prescribed drugs (Morphine, Percoset), a variety of other illegal drugs and paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking, cell phones, three firearms with ammunition and one vehicle was also seized.
As a result of the search warrants, investigators have arrested and charged seven people under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and under the Criminal Code of Canada.

- Possession for purpose of trafficking Schedule I (methamphetamine) 5(2) CDSA
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm 91(1) CC
Shayne MENARD, 49 years old of Faraday Township, Ontario
- Possession for purpose of trafficking Schedule I (methamphetamine) 5(2) CDSA
- Fail to comply with an undertaking 145(5.1) CC
Amanda HUDSON, 30 years old of Bancroft, Ontario
- Possession for purpose of trafficking Schedule I (methamphetamine) 5(2) CDSA
BOWRAN was release on a promise to appear and the other six accused were held for bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.
