You’re still in time to sign up for the annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research on September 14 at Lakeshore Park in Barry’s Bay. Race organizer Colette Mantifel said the weather forecast is good and she hopes people will come out to walk or run instead of sitting inside during the planned power outage on Sunday morning. As in previous years, both individuals and teams are welcome. Mantifel said the lack of hydro does not impact the event, as volunteers and participants can enjoy a celebration barbecue after the race. As in past years students and staff from the area schools will participate during September. Mantifel organized the run that was already held at Palmer Rapids Public School on September 12. According to school newsletters, Sherwood Public School will hold Terry Fox Walk on Thursday September 26, and the walk/run at St. John Bosco School is on Friday September 27.
The race sets off from Lakeshore Park at 9:00 a.m. Click HERE to register online in advance.
