Stefan Klietsch, Libertarian Party of Canada candidate for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, is declaring satisfaction with the conduct of the All-Candidates Debate hosted by the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) on October 9th at the Cobden Agricultural Hall.
“There was concern with the pledge by OFA organizers to discourage criticism of other candidates at their event, and multiple candidates considered the whole OFA debate to be a bad-faith exercise,” Mr. Klietsch stated. Four of the ten candidates did not attend the Cobden event. “However the OFA organizers did not interrupt me when I publicly challenged Ms. Gallant, although I then spent the rest of the evening focused on presenting myself and my platform.”
Mr. Klietsch invited Ms. Gallant to publicly explain why her office had told the OFA that she was only available for an All-Candidates Meeting on October 9th, long after Ms. Gallant had declined to confirm attendance for a Beachburg All-Candidates Meeting previously scheduled for that same evening.
“I thank the candidates Dan Criger and Ruben Marini for contacting the Deep River Community Association to host an alternative candidates event partially during the OFA event,” Mr. Klietsch added. “That being said, I wanted to clarify that I was satisfied with my speaking freedom for the OFA event and that the OFA contributed to the democratic process.”
