Killaloe OPP news for the week Oct. 21-27

During the week of October 21 – October 27, 2019 there were 78 calls for service for the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), including the Whitney Detachment.

  • There were eleven motor vehicle collisions, five were animal related.
  • There were four domestic disputes with one domestic dispute resulting in criminal code charges.

 Domestic Assault Charge

On Monday October 21, 2019 at approximately 12: 25 a.m. Killaloe OPP responded to a domestic dispute in Bonnechere Valley Township. As a result of police investigation, an 18 year old from Bonnechere Valley Township was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Wednesday December 11, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Ontario Court of Justice Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Breach of Probation Order Conditions

On Tuesday October 22, 2019 at approximately 12: 25 p.m. Killaloe OPP responded to an unwanted persons call on Maple Street, Bonnechere Valley Township. As a result of police investigation 22 year old Logan CALLAGHAN of East York was arrested and charged with Breach of Probation Order conditions contrary to the Criminal Code, after non-compliance with a no alcohol condition was breached. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Wednesday November 13, 2019 at 9:30 a.m., at the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe.

Collision

On Tuesday October 22, 2019 at approximately 10:15 a.m. Killaloe OPP responded to a single vehicle collision involving a passenger car on Highway 60, Algonquin Provincial Park. The driver lost control and struck several guard rails. As a result of police investigation 63 year old Mary Grace KOSTA of London was charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant was issued a Provincial Offences Act notice. The vehicle was towed. There were no reported injuries.
