Update on Madawaska Valley strategic plan

MV Council in Committee looked at a second draft of its new Strategic Plan on March 3rd. Members of Council reviewed the Action Items arranged in four categories

  • Open communication and governance
  • Progressive and growing economy
  • Healthy and sustainable community
  • Efficient and effective Township services

CAO/Clerk Suzanne Klatt will compare the draft with her notes to ensure the consultant has captured all changed requested by Council. She will bring the plan to staff for their suggestions and to prepare a Work Plan to implement the Action Items. Klatt anticipates a quick turnaround so that Council sees the Work Plan when they are setting the 2020 municipal budget.

Volunteer event

MV Council in Committee endorsed a proposal from Recreation and Community Development Coordinator Stephanie Plebon to hold a free event for Valley volunteers at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre on Sunday, April 19 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Plebon explained members of the community will be invited to the event as a “kick-off” for National Volunteer Week. The afternoon will feature live entertainment by Odd Man Out, a visit from Little Ray’s Reptiles, and an opportunity for the Township to officially thank community volunteers for their work. Plebon intends to write to valley organizations in March and invite them to showcase their activities. Groups can use this opportunity to attract new volunteers and the limited table space can be shared. To ensure your organization is invited, please email Plebon: recreation@madawaskavalley.ca
