Six accused of drug and firearm offences after OPP Bancroft raid

On March 5, 2020 shortly after 8:00 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), members from the Bancroft Detachment, Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a warrant at a residence on Woodview Lane in the Town of Bancroft.

As a result, investigators seized a quantity of controlled substance suspected to be cocaine and methamphetamine along with cash, drug related materials and stolen property.

Richard DEMERS, 32 years of age from Bancroft, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 2 counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Fail to comply with a prohibition order – 4 counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts
  • Fail to comply with a release order – 7 counts

 

Jennifer COX, 31 years of age from Bancroft has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 2 counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts

 

Jesse WHITESIDE, 21 years of age from the Municipality of Hastings Highlands has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
  • Possession of a loaded firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts

 

Sharayah WOODCOCK, 25 years of age from Bancroft has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 2 counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts

 

Carl GILBANK, 23 years of age from Bancroft has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 2 counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts

 

David VAUTOUR, 30 years of age from Bancroft has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 2 counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Fail to comply with a prohibition order – 4 counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts

 

All accused were held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
