MV Library reopens July 29

The Madawaska Valley Public Library is pleased to announce that we will be re-opening on Wednesday, July 29th. Our regular hours have been adjusted to meet quarantine protocols for books and other library materials as mandated by Ontario’s Stage 3 Opening Plans for libraries. As of July 29th and until further notice hours of operation will be Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 10:00am – 12:00pm & 1:00pm – 5:00pm.  Above: new plexiglass screens in library (photo submitted)

For those of you who have enjoyed the library take-out service we will continue to monitor online requests by email and through our online catalogue.  Items can be picked up during our new hours. While we cannot guarantee your items will be ready for pick-up the same day that you requested them, our staff will work to fill requests as quickly as possible, and we will let you know by phone or email when items are ready to be picked up.

Computer use

Use of our public computers will continue to be by appointment only for 30 minute sessions. Safe distancing measures means staff cannot offer the same level of assistance with computers. If you think you will need help you can arrange to bring one person with you to your session.

In-person visits

In keeping with health and safety measures, the number of people in the building during open hours will be limited in adherence to safe distancing, and patron visits will be limited to 30 minutes. We trust that this will allow enough time for people to make their selections.

Masks or face coverings

As per the Ontario mandatory mask policy, everyone entering the building is expected to wear a mask unless they fall under Ontario’s exceptions to this policy. The public should be aware that if an individual cannot wear a mask they are not required to provide any documentation proving their exception. We ask that people respect that if someone is not wearing a mask it is for one of the listed exceptions.

It has been a long year for everyone, but one bright spot for us is how patient our patrons have been during this time. Our community has shown itself to be its own greatest asset, and we look forward to the day when we can all breathe a little easier, and worry a little less.

Until then, see you at the library!
