Only a short wait now until hockey fans can watch this year’s NHL playoffs. Meanwhile, to whet your appetite, here’s a local newspaper clipping that involves many well-known Whitney names. The Whitney Red Devils won the Madawaska Valley Hockey championship in 1959 by defeating Barry’s Bay four games to three.

You have to love the old days in the Valley……and watching that team …Carl Lacombe …Bernie Stubbs and Rickie Shalla…..Great hockey …the Valley was infested with sports talent……Whitney…Barrys Bay …Killaloe…Combermere…..Now not so much….mmmmmmm
