The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) has seized illegal drugs at a residence in the City of Pembroke.
On August 5, 2020 members of the Street Crime Unit, assisted by the OPP Tactical Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), and officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment, executed a search warrant at an apartment on Chamberlain Street, Pembroke, Ontario.
Officers located suspected cocaine, Blue Fentanyl and MDMA. They also seized three long guns and ammunition. During the search a package believed to contain an explosive mixture was located and removed for immediate disposal. There was no concern to public safety during this event.
Anthony MCCABE, aged 35, of the City of Pembroke has been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2) – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – CDSA sec. 5(2) – Opioid (other than heroin)
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – CDSA sec. 5(2) – Other Drugs
- Explosives – Making or possessing for unlawful purpose – Criminal Code Act (CC) sec. 82(1)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – CC sec. 354(1)(a)
- Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code – CC sec. 320.18(1)(a)
The accused has been held and is scheduled for a bail hearing on August 6, 2020.
Teressa HAMMIL, aged 19, of Laurentian Valley Township is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2) – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – CDSA sec. 5(2) – Other Drugs
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Pembroke (Renfrew County) Ontario Court of Justice on October 6, 2020.
