OPP Renfrew weekly report Aug. 31 to Sept. 6

The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 343 calls for service during the week August 31 to September 6, 2020.

Assault

On September 6, 2020 officers with the Renfrew OPP Detachment were dispatched to a dispute on Bonnechere Street North in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of the investigation, Brian BARR, 55 years old, of the Town of Renfrew has been charged with one count of Assault. The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on October 3, 2020.

Domestic Violence

Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 12 domestic disputes during the past week.

  • One accused has been charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief
  • One accused has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, mischief and fail to comply with probation order

Impaired Driving

On September 5, 2020 an officer with the Renfrew OPP Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Daniel Street South in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of the investigation Kayla LIDTKIE, 31 years old, of Palmer Rapids, Ontario has been charged with impaired driving, and possession of a schedule I substance. Ambrose STOPPA, 34 years old, of the Township of Brudenell-Lyndoch Raglan has been charged with possession of a schedule I substance. Both of the accused were released on an Undertaking and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on November 4, 2020.

On September 5, 2020 an officer of the Renfrew OPP Detachment was dispatched to a traffic complaint on Highway 60 near the Town of Renfrew. The vehicle was located by the officer and stopped on Raglan Street North in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of the investigation Bradley BORUTSKI, 41 years old, of the Township of North Algona-Wilberforce has been charged with impaired driving, and driving with blood alcohol concentration over 80. The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on November 4, 2020.

On September 6, 2020 officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment were at the scene of a collision on Calabogie Road in the Township of Greater Madawaska. The officers were directing traffic and encountered a driver of an ATV who began to create a disturbance at the scene. After further investigation, Michelle CHARLEBOIS, 32 years old, of Cornwall, Ontario has been charged with failure or refusal to comply with breath demand. The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on October 21, 2020.

On September 6, 2020 officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment were dispatched to the marina in the Town of Arnprior at the request of the Arnprior Fire Department in response to a vessel being towed in due to engine trouble. As a result of the investigation, David PAVELEY, 67 years old, of the Town of Arnprior has been charged with impaired driving and driving with blood alcohol concentration over 80. The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on November 4, 20201

Prohibited driving

On August 30, 2020 an officer with the Renfrew OPP Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Baskin Drive West in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of the investigation, Scott SLIWOWSKI, 47 years old, of the Town of Arnprior has been charged with operation of motor vehicle while prohibited under the criminal code. The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on October 7, 2020.

Theft

On September 2, 2020 officers with the Renfrew OPP Detachment were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle on Gillan Road in the Town of Renfrew. The vehicle was located by officers on Sixth Street in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of the investigation, Darryl SPICER, 33 years old, of the Township of North Frontenac has been charged with theft under $5000 from a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. Stephanie SPROULE, 28 years old, of the Township of North Frontenac has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. Both of the accused were released on an Undertaking and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on November 20, 2020.
