OPP Bancroft Detachment has issued the following on June 1:
On May 30, 2021 shortly before 8:00 p.m. members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a missing person on Bells Rapids Lake in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands. The Bancroft OPP along with the OPP helicopter, OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Marine officers and Hastings Highlands Fire Department were involved in the search.
On May 31, 2021 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) attended the lake to assist with the search for the missing 60 year old of Combermere, Ontario.
Members of the OPP USRU recovered the body of Albert KUNO yesterday afternoon.
The office for the Chief Coroner of Ontario is leading the investigation with the assistance from the Bancroft OPP. A post mortem exam has been scheduled. Foul play is not suspected.
