The Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has now identified the victim in a murder investigation at the Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation.

On July 10, 2021 shortly before 3:00 a.m. the OPP responded to a 911 call at a residence on a road north of Kokomis Inamo. Officers located Ronald GRAHAM, age 67 of Eganville, deceased. Another male, with non-life threatening injuries, was transported to hospital by the Renfrew County Ambulance.

Zachary MARQUARDT, aged 27 from Bonnechere Valley Township, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • First degree murder – section 235(1)
  • Fail to comply with a Probation Order – section 733.1(1)

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe on July 19, 2021.

The investigation in the Golden Lake area remains ongoing by members of the Killaloe OPP and East Region Criminal Operations, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services. OPP Killaloe Detachment

Single vehicle collision leads to Impaired charge: On Friday, July 9, 2021, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision involving a sport utility vehicle on Queen Street near Veterans Way in the Township of Bonnechere Valley.

As part of the investigation, the Roadside Screening Device was used, and the driver was transported to the police detachment for further testing. As a result of this investigation, 42 year old Tammy SEABROOK of Toronto was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operating a conveyance while impaired by alcohol; and,
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle While Having Over 80 mgs of Alcohol per 100 ml of Blood.

The accused was released on conditions, and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle towed and impounded.

Domestic incident results in multiple criminal charges: On Friday, July 9, 2021, members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic disturbance, which occurred at a residence in the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 27 year old from Waterloo with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Domestic Assault (2 counts);
  • Domestic Utter Threats (2 counts);
  • Domestic Assault With A Weapon;
  • Domestic Assault Cause Bodily Harm (4 counts); and,
  • Domestic Mischief Under (2 counts).

The accused was released on conditions, and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Algonquin Park assault:  On Saturday, July 10, 2021, members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault call at the Canisbay Lake Campground in Algonquin Provincial Park.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged 57 year old William Shain FLETCHER from Otonabee-South Monaghan Twp. with the following Criminal Code offence:

  • Assault.

The victim sustained minor injuries. The accused was released on conditions, and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe.
