Lakeshore Beach now reopen

On July 30 Madawaska Valley Township announced that the Renfrew County and District Health Unit has reopened the Barry’s Bay Lakeshore Beach in time for the Civic Holiday Weekend. Swimming lessons will return to Barry’s Bay starting Tuesday, Aug.3.


Seniors’ Centre has new RCD Dental Forms

The Opeongo Seniors Centre in Barry’s Bay advises that the new Renfrew County & District Seniors’ Dental Forms are now available at the Centre. You can pick up yours on Tuesday, Aug.3 or Thursday, Aug.5 at 19 Stafford Street, Barry’s Bay.


MV Gardening Club annual Flower and Vegetable Show

The Madawaska Valley Gardening Club (formerly Horticultural Society) advises that it will hold its annual Flower and Vegetable Show this month. Club executive Ritsuko Honda said that after having to cancel last year’s show due to COVID-19, this year’s show will take place outdoors, in the back yard of the Opeongo Seniors’ Centre at 19 Stafford Street, Barry’s Bay. Club members who plan to exhibit should refer to the Show Schedule in the 2020 year book or visit mvgardeningclub.ca (Scroll down to the bottom to find the 2020 year book online.) More details will follow.


COVID-19 testing and vaccination clinics

NOTE: There is a Pop-Up COVID-19 Testing Clinic at the Renfrew County Paramedics base, 18 Billings Street, Barry’s Bay from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on MONDAY, AUG.2.

Receive your COVID-19 Vaccine in private: Do you want to get the vaccine but feel the location is too exposed in Barry’s Bay, or you are not comfortable with being seen at the clinic? Please know there are opportunities for privacy. Local individuals are working on some extra locations, but also feel free to call the Health Unit, tell them you need privacy, and they can work with you directly.
