Described as a means of recognizing a person or group that achieves above and beyond expectations here in Madawaska Valley, the Above and Beyond program has been launched by the municipality. The announcement on social media reads: Beth has been a part of many committees and associations that have shaped Barry’s Bay. To name just a few: Water Tower Restoration Committee, Arena Building Committee, and the Zurakowski Park Committee! She’s a lifelong volunteer, and most recently made and donated non-medical masks to the Valley Manor and St. Francis Memorial Hospital during the pandemic. Beth, MV Township is lucky to have you!
When asked about the honour, Beth had this to say: “I am flattered and honoured to be recognized for this accolade — big thanks goes out to to my niece, Liz, for starting the whole ball rolling! I’m extremely happy that I made the choice with Johnnie to move to Barry’s Bay all those years ago with our family, and I am even happier to have been able to accomplish the things that I undertook. It was all done with an interest in promoting our community to help make it the wonderful place it is today. It was very much worth it. I love our community very much, and I hope I can continue to contribute to the positive and caring culture.”
