Ted Dykstra is an award-winning actor/director and a former professor of Chantal Elie-Sernoskie’s, Stone Fence Theatre’s Creative Director. He will be talking at the meeting about what he’s learned about keeping a theatre company alive and developing.

“When Ted was directing me in a university production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, I quickly was impressed with his passion and vision,” recalls Ms. Elie-Sernoskie.  “Aside from his countless national accomplishments, awards and successes, he is a wonderful person to work with. He has a wonderful energy and would even act out things so that we understood what he meant. He’s a great actor!  He has a great sense of humour and his energy is contagious!  I’m very grateful to have him speak at our AGM now some 20 years later!”

Since becoming a professional actor at age 15 in 1976 in his hometown of Edmonton, Ted Dykstra has played leading roles on every major stage in Canada. He has directed dozens of award-winning productions and has also been in countless TV shows and movies, most recently in the final season of The Expanse. His writing credits include the Kreutzer Sonata, the musical Evangeline and he is co-creator of the world renowned 2 Pianos, 4 Hands. With Diana Bentley, he has produced six seasons of award winning sold-out theatre for The Coal Mine Theatre in Toronto.

It’s an opportune time for this, because Stone Fence Theatre turns 20 years old this Decemeber, “And we’re in the process of passing the company leadership along to a new generation,” said the company’s producer, Ish Theilheimer. “Ted Dykstra is a theatre development leader, and I know we can learn from him.”

Anyone can attend the meeting, but they must request a Zoom invitation by sending an email to info@stonefence.ca

At the meeting, members will also be electing a new Board of Directors and hearing about exciting plans for the next year.
