Police assist call results in criminal charges

The Killaloe OPP have laid criminal charges on an individual after receiving a police assist call for service.

On December 24, 2022, shortly before 12:00 p.m., members of the Killaloe OPP responded to a residence in the Township of South Algonquin.

As a result of police investigation, police arrested and charged 32-year-old Lyndon PAUZE from Highlands East with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:

  • Theft of motor vehicle;
  • Prohibited driving;
  • Possession of suspected methamphetamine; and,
  • Breach of probation.

The accused was released, and is scheduled to appear in court on February 8, 2023 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe.

Festive RIDE Campaign results in two drivers charged

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Festive RIDE Campaign has now concluded. The campaign focused on alcohol and drug impaired drivers and efforts to keep our roadways safe for all.

Locally, the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) participated in this campaign and report that collectively police conducted a total of eighty-eight (88) RIDE checks. Police arrested and charged two (2) drivers with impaired-related offences.

As always, police remind drivers that although the campaign is over, driving safely and making good choice does not end. Drive responsibly.

Assault charge follows Christmas Eve family dispute

Police have charged one person with assault after responding to a family dispute call.

On December 24, 2022, members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute call at a residence on the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation Territory near Golden Lake.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 43-year-old from Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation with the following Criminal Code offence:

  • Assault.

The accused was released on conditions, and will appear in court on February 8, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused will not be released to protect the victim.

Domestic assault with weapon charge

Police have charged one person with a criminal offence after responding to a domestic disturbance call.

On December 27, 2022, members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation Territory near Golden Lake.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 56-year-old from Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation with the following Criminal Code offence:

  • Domestic Assault with a weapon.

The accused was released on conditions, and will appear in court on February 8, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused will not be released to protect the victim.
