Madawaska Valley Food Bank issued the following statement on Jan.6:
The Madawaska Valley Food Bank sends out a big Thank You to the community for making the end-of-year fundraiser a great success. To meet the increase in clients using the food bank and the increased prices for the food it purchases, the food bank set a goal of $35,000. The fundraiser brought in $41,000 in financial donations and $7,000 in food donations. Shown above is the MV Food Bank team in December 2022. Photo Facebook.
“For a small community, the valley has really come through in a big way,”said MV Food Bank president Paul Thompson. “This support has come from local businesses and local groups and organizations, but there are also so many individuals who made the decision to help others in their community. The food bank very much appreciates all those who supported the end-of-year fundraiser,” Thompson said.
The Madawaska Valley Food Bank would like to thank Moose FM, Valumart and Metro for their hosting the radiothon in early December. In order to sustain operations during the entire year, the food bank plans three regular fundraisers: late spring, late summer and end of year.
