Legacy for local healthcare from Barrys Bay genealogists

Submitted by St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation

The Barry’s Bay Heritage Society – Genealogy Group may have disbanded, but as a final gesture of goodwill, they are providing a legacy for local healthcare. Theresa Prince was one of the founding members of the group that started in 2002. Throughout the years, group members would meet to discover their ancestry. Eventually, the group helped install the historic walking plaques around Barry’s Bay.  When they decided to disband, membership fees and donated money was left in the bank, so members agreed to donate it to the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation for local healthcare needs. The Foundation raises funds for its three partners, including the Valley Manor, Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care, and St. Francis Memorial Hospital.
