Madawaska Valley appoints first female fire officer

Congratulations are in order for fire fighter Monika Sawiak who has been promoted to Fire Captain of MV’s South Hall. Sawiak has served MV as a fire fighter in the South Hall for the past eleven years and is the first woman in the history of MV Fire Department to achieve officer status. MV Fire Chief Corwin Quade said, “She is a very strong leader and will excel in this position. Her work ethic and dedication is amazing.”

There are currently three female fire fighters on the MV roster.
