Active living for Valley seniors

Monday, Feb.12 1pm-3pm The Killaloe Public Library hosts a workshop from Western University’s Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging. Physiotherapist and Lecturer Steve Di Ciacca will give a virtual presentation, and attendees can meet local volunteer Fitness Instructors. Opeongo Seniors Centre in February This month’s full program at the Centre at 19 Stafford Street, Barry’s Bay includes:

  • Exercise groups Mondays and Thursdays. To suit all levels: high-intensity at 9:30am; low-intensity at 11am.
  • Craft Group Monday afternoons from 1pm-3pm.
  • Tuesday, Feb.13 at 10am. Pancake Breakfast until they run out! Alzheimer’s Support Group at 10:30am (downstairs)
  • Wednesdays 11am to 2pm. Coffee Time. Feb.14 Bring Your Valentine to Coffee.
  • Friday mornings at10am. Line Dancing.

Forgotten Memories of the Ottawa Valley: A Folk Show

Marc Audet, Valley musician, performs an evening of story telling through song at Bonnechere Union Public Library, 74 Maple Street, Eganville, on Friday, Feb.9. Doors open at 6:30pm, show begins 7pm. Climate Cafe at Madawaska Valley Public Library, Barry’s Bay

On Saturday, Feb.10 from 10am to 12pm, volunteers from the Kitchissippi-Ottawa Chapter of Council of Canada presents a Climate Café at MV Public Library. Everyone is welcome at this drop-in event that offers facts, conversation, resources, slides as well as tea and cookies. Part of a series of volunteer-run Renfrew County Climate Cafés.


W.I.N. February event

On Tuesday, Feb.20 at the Calvin United Church, 276 Church St, Pembroke, this month’s Renfrew County Women’s Initiative Network event features speaker Karthi Rajamani, Head Librarian, Pembroke Library. In the Library theme, attendees are invited to bring a book that they are willing to give away in a book exchange. Time: 6 for 6:30 p.m. dinner. A buffet meal will be provided by Calvin United Church Women, menu details to be confirmed Price: $20 or less, price to be confirmed. The 17th Annual Ottawa Valley Seedy Sunday will take place on Sunday, Mar. 3 from 10am to3pm at Rankin Centre.
