Madawaska Valley gardeners are hardy souls and Club member Donna Marie Cybulskie proves it by describing her experience of sowing seeds outdoors in the depths of a Valley winter at this month’s meeting on Thursday, Feb.15th. Cybulskie’s lifelong enjoyment of gardening included saving her own seeds to start indoors each spring, but eventually she ran out of space indoors and began to research alternatives. She found “winter sowing” and says that starting seeds outdoors in containers gives her a head start on gardening every year, without any indoor mess, damping off, or issues with flies and gnats. The meeting is at the Opeongo Seniors Centre, 19 Stafford Street, Barry’s Bay. Come at 7pm for a social time, trade houseplants, and stay for Cybulskie’s presentation starting at 7:30pm.

Annual membership costs $15 for all the presentations and events this year. Click HERE to visit the Club’s Facebook page for information.
