Four charged following knife attack in Pembroke
The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment has charged four people after an assault in downtown Pembroke.
Officers were called to Pembroke Street West around 9:00 p.m. on March 12, 2024, where they located a 25-year-old male with a stab wound and other minor injuries. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, four people have been arrested.
Richard ADAMS, age 38 of Laurentian Valley Township has been charged with:
- Assault with a weapon
- Forcible confinement
- Failure to comply with a prohibition order
Meryl MCGIVERN, age 37 of Pembroke has been charged with:
- Assault
- Forcible confinement
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
Jaclyn SHAFFER, age 43 of Killaloe has been charged with:
- Assault with a weapon
- Dangerous operation of a vehicle
Jade CHARLEBOIS, age 25 of Laurentian Valley Township has been charged with assault with a weapon.
All four accused have been released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 15, 2024.

Theft of snowmachines under investigation
Police are currently investigating the theft of two snowmachines. Pictured above. Photos OPP.
On March 11, 2024, just before 1:00 p.m., police responded to a theft call for service at a residence on Tranquility Bay Drive, in the Township of Bonnechere Valley.
A 2004 silver Skidoo GSX, with the licence number of 965592 and a 2004 black Yamaha RXW with the licence number of 939184 were stolen from the property.
