Every summer Madawaska Valley Public Library offers you much more than just materials to borrow such as books, DVD and puzzles. Here are some additions to a full calendar of children’s programming.
Evening events
Artist of the Month for August, Jessica Lin, talks about her work now on display at MV Library and explains her artistic practice at the Library on Thursday, Aug.22 between 6 and 8pm. Everyone is welcome and light refreshments will be served. You do not need to pre-register for this event.
Jamie Bramburger of Algonquin College Pembroke talks about his latest book Sudden Impact at the Opeongo Seniors Centre in Barry’s Bay on Thursday, Aug.29 at 7pm. The book examines the circumstances and effects of the 1942 Almonte train wreck. After the presentation copies of the book will be available to purchase for $30 cash or e-transfer. Free admission, light refreshments available, and pre-registration not required.
Plan an outing
The Library has passes to Ottawa museums and Ontario Parks.
Thanks to Tackle Share, you can borrow fishing rods and tackle to take your kids fishing this summer.
The Library’s Adult Walking Group meets throughout the summer every Friday at 10am. Walking poles are available. Some field trips are planned, and so far the group has explored the new Hoch Farm park and a Foymount area ghost town.
Teen Paint Night
Thursday, Aug.15 is the last teen night of the summer at MV Library. You can paint a step by step masterpiece on canvas to hang in your room. The program starts at 6pm and is limited to 10 spots.
