The remains of one person have been located in Friday’s early morning residential fire.
On August 23, 2024, around 5:15 a.m., officers from the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and members of the Bonnechere Valley Fire Department responded to a fully engulfed residential fire on John Street in Bonnechere Valley.
Police are confirming that the remains of one person who has yet to be identified were located inside of the residence. The Renfrew County Crime Unit, supported by the Office of the Fire Marshall, the Office of the Chief Corner and the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services will continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
The area has been cordoned off to facilitate the investigation, and John Street remains closed. The fire has been deemed non-suspicious.
