OPP suspect animal attack in serious injuries to Quadeville child

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing to investigate an incident that left a young child with potentially life-threatening injuries in Quadeville, southeast Barry’s Bay.

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment responded to reports that a child had been found at a location along Quadeville Road, suffering from serious injuries.

The child was transported to hospital and later to a regional trauma centre and is recovering from the injuries.

The UOV OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation and working with the Ministry of Natural Resources, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Emergency Response Team.

While investigators suspect this to have been an animal attack, further testing and analysis is required.

As a precaution, parents in the Quadeville area should continue to keep their small children indoors or under close supervision.

If you have any information or relevant doorbell or surveillance video that could help investigators, please call the UOV OPP at 1-888-310-1122. If you have information but wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or valleytips.ca.
