OPP seek potential witness in Quadeville serious injury incident

Police are continuing to investigate an incident that left a young child with serious injuries in Quadeville, southeast of Barry’s Bay.

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports that a child had been found at a location along Quadeville Road, suffering from serious injuries.

The child was transported to hospital and later to a regional trauma centre. The child remains in serious but stable condition.

Investigators are continuing efforts to identify the cause of the attack in consultation with the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) and experts in animal attacks.

As part of the investigation, police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a potential witness who was in the Quadeville area prior to the incident. This individual is not a subject of the investigation but may have information that could assist the case. Their description is as follows:

  • Male in his 60s
  • Grey and white hair
  • Possibly with white facial hair
  • Last seen wearing a black leather jacket with a white motorcycle helmet
  • Owns a grey or black motorcycle described as a Ducati or Suzuki style
  • Used to live in the Killaloe or Bonnechere Valley area
  • Possibly from the United States

Parents in the Quadeville area are encouraged to remain vigilant and keep their small children under close supervision while outdoors. Animal traps have been set in the Quadeville area by the MNR as a precautionary measure.

The UOV OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation and working with the MNR, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services and Emergency Response Team.
