Dear Editor,
I am sick and tired of this. For a while now, Google Maps has listed the incorrect postal code for every single address in Barry’s Bay and the surrounding area. They list it as “K0J 2M0,” rather than the correct K0J 1B0. This has caused no end of headaches for me recently since, within the past year, charities and other online organizations have begun to verify addresses in an attempt to ensure accuracy. Unfortunately, it seems they have been getting their information about the “correct”
addresses from Google Maps. As a result, I am unable to make donations to charities, etc. online, because I cannot enter my correct address.
As I said, I am sick and tired of this, and I want something to be done to bring an end to it. All I can think of is to nag Canada Post to nag Google, since it seems rational that they, as a major organization that is supposed to be supplying information about addresses to Google, would be able to get through to them.

Editor’s Note: When this letter arrived, we tried to find the correct Barry’s Bay postal code via google maps. See photo above for the result – not the same outcome (Whitney postal code) that the writer received, but still an incorrect code. We hear you, Rory. For years we have struggled with online orders, financial institutions, and more who will not believe that our civic address exists – even when we manually input all details including the correct postal code. Yet Matcheski Road has been so named for 30-plus years.
And then there is mapquest (.ca version):

Sorry eh Rory. It’s just Whitney’s way of trying to amalgamate Barry’s Bay
