In our recent Editorial entitled “MV taxpayers have been victimized by their insurer” we promised to provide you with information about how to sign a public interest Petition, as well as a video podcast that explains why we are taking this position. The Current is happy to confirm that both are now online.
Sign the Petition
First, the Petition which is called “Taxpayers Should Not Bear any Costs of Intentional Misconduct by their Elected Representatives.” Following consultation, there have been a few minor amendments to the Proposed Petition attached to our Sept.18th Editorial. You can sign the Petition in one of two ways:
- Online: The Petition is on the website of OpenPetition.org – a non-profit organization like The Current, and like us – because it’s online – it reaches Valley residents wherever they may go. You need to register with OpenPetition (a simple process) then you are free to peruse the various causes and sign to your heart’s content. You will find our Petition under the “Consumer Protection” section for “Ontario.” or just CLICK HERE for the Petition link.
- Hard copy: You can sign a hard copy of the Petition by downloading a PDF signing sheet from the website, or you can CLICK HERE for a PDF copy. Please consider your family members and friends who do not have online access or a printer, and run off a few copies of the Petition for distribution to them. As always when communicating to public bodies and large corporations, the more signatures the better.

Our Petition Podcast gives you the background to the entire Petition. But unless you’re a faithful reader of The Current and you have searched the public records of the Ontario Courts and the Township, you may not have a lot of knowledge about that background. Or even if you have any reservations at all about signing, you’ll want to hear our explanation of the reasons for the Petition.
