Fall colours in the Valley

Editor’s Note: This is for all you leaf-peepers who are cottagers, seasonal residents or otherwise unable to get out and enjoy our magnificent fall colours this year. Wilno photographer Sharon Gardiner has agreed to share some of her photos of Valley back roads and views so you can watch — from wherever you are — as the colours progress through the coming weeks. The Current will update this regularly so you’ll see Sharon’s latest picture at the top, and her older ones below. Enjoy …

St. John Bosco’s kindergarten graduating class of 2020

Editor’s Note: The Kinder Team at St. John Bosco School asked The Current for a special online celebration of the achievements of the kindergarten graduating class of 2020. They have sent the following message along with individual photos of the pupils.

On May 19th Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced that the province is cancelling in-person learning for the school year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our school is remaining closed for the rest of the school year, and as a result in-person graduation ceremonies are also cancelled. Typically the last week of June at St. John Bosco is spent celebrating every students’ accomplishments and particularly the Senior Kindergarten Class and The Grade 8 Graduating Class. We celebrate with prayer services, Mass, speeches, songs, awards and of course, cake. We recognize that this is a very important mile-stone for our children and a beloved tradition for their parents.

However, the risk to public safety and social distancing rules have required us to celebrate our youngest learners in a different way. We are hanging celebration posters at local businesses around town. Thank-you to local businesses for supporting us now and always! Students will get a special package during the last week of school too and a special video made by their educators. Plus we are hoping this article reaches many of them and their proud families! This class of kindergartens is an exceptional one, and we have really missed learning, playing and praying together these last several weeks.

The Kinder team at St. John Bosco is so excited to see all the growth in learning next fall when we can be together again. Please come back to visit us in your old classroom as you continue your learning at St. John Bosco!  Congratulations to our Senior Kindergarten Graduates of 2020 – you are special, kind, curious, faithful, and missed every day!

GRADE 1 HERE YOU COME!

You are ready for more
learning and fun in Grade 1!
