Lions and Legion host lively St. Pat’s Day Dance

The Madawaska Valley Lions held their annual St. Pat’s Day Dance at the Barry’s Bay Legion on March 16. An important fund-raiser for both the MV Lions and the Legion, more than one hundred advance tickets were sold to the event. There was much wearing of the green by party-goers of all ages and whatever their true heritage everyone maintained they were Irish – for the day.

Volunteers from both the MV Lions and the Legion Branch 406 worked many hours leading up to the Dance selling tickets, acquiring prizes, creating decorations, practising their instruments, setting up the hall, and preparing the delicious light buffet. Dancers enjoyed the live music performed throughout the afternoon by the Kelly band and by guest musicians.  MV Lions President Greg Kelly acted as master of ceremonies when it came time to announce the winners of the many prizes generously donated by local businesses and individuals.
