St. Lawrence O’Toole parish hall was packed for its annual St. Patrick’s Day tea as 185 guests enjoyed fresh sandwiches, tasty treats and hot tea and coffee. The event was sponsored by the Catholic Women’s League of Canada parish council. Conversation was lively as people took a chance at the $100 chart, purchased Pot O’ Gold tickets and selected prizes they wanted to win at the mini-raffle table. The White Elephant table offered fun articles at a low purchase price.
The volunteers, many of them students, who made this event a success were greatly appreciated but the leadership needs to be acknowledged: Lorraine Flynn (Pot O’ Gold tickets, Favours for the Hospital and Manor, SownShamrocks, $100.00 chart), Gail August (Kitchen), Maxine Smaglinski (tables and waitresses, treasurer), Ursula Jeffrey (advertisements and decorations), Viola Cybulski (mini-raffle and hall set-up) Shirley Yantha (waitresses),Terri McLeod & Maureen Braceland (White Elephant table), Camille Conway (greeter), Jane Beahen (greeter and 50/50 ticket seller), Beth Hildebrandt (hall set-up and door collection), Audrey Cybulski (head of door collection), David Cannon (elevator operator) and Carmel Rumleskie (MC and Door Prize collector).
On behalf of the organizers Carmel Rumleskie said,
We are very grateful to all the members and parishioners who make this event a huge success but we also wish to thank the local businesses who donate generous prizes for our draws. We live in a kind and caring community. How lucky we are!
