Renfrew County and District School Board (RCDSB) has provided an online survey so parents can provide feedback on plans for their children’s return to school this fall. The RCDSB website says this is “in the spirit of better understanding the needs of our parents/guardians so that we can continue to provide outstanding educational experiences,” and advises parents to “check your email” for a link to the survey.
The introduction to the survey explains that RCDSB has been asked to consider three different models of attendance in their planning and modelling. These include:
- A normal school day routine with enhanced public health protocols;
- A modified school day routine based on smaller class sizes, cohorting and alternative day or week delivery, and;
- At-home learning with ongoing enhanced remote delivery
RCDSB points out that “perhaps the most central element of this path was the government making it clear that parents/guardians, regardless of their personal circumstances and background, will have the option of choosing whether to send their child to school next year.” School boards must be prepared to share their plans by August 4, 2020.
The parents/guardians survey is very short but provides space for comments, and the deadline for completion is 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27. Click HERE to access the survey.
