SFMH appoints Dr. Daniel Ostapowicz as new Director of Emergency Dept.

St. Francis Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that Dr. Daniel Ostapowicz will officially become the Director of the Emergency Department as of April 1, 2023.

“I am very pleased to welcome Dr. Ostapowicz to the role of Director of the Emergency Department at SFMH. His commitment to providing exceptional patient care is evident and we look forward to working with him in this role,” said Julia Boudreau, SFMH CEO.

Dr. Ostapowicz replaces current Director of ED, Dr. Jason Malinowski. “We thank Dr. Malinowski for his dedication and work during his time as ED director,” added Greg McLeod, SFMH Chief Operating Officer. “We are very pleased that Dr. Malinowski will continue working with SFMH in our Emergency Department and in his family practice.”

Dr. Ostapowicz earned his BSc in Biological Sciences before pursuing a medical degree at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. He completed his specialization in Family Medicine at Amita Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in Chicago, Illinois where he was chief resident.

Dr. Ostapowicz began his career at SFMH in May 2020 and opened an office at the St. Francis Medical Centre clinic in November 2020. He currently sits on the Madawaska Valley Family Health Team Board.

“I am looking forward to leading our team for the next few years. Work continues on the ED Redevelopment project and I am eager to contribute where I can,” stated Dr. Ostapowicz.

Dr. Ostapowicz shared that he and his family are very happy to live in the Barry’s Bay area.*

“Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and the outdoors. You may see me running, hiking, biking or canoeing in my free time.”

Dr. Jason Malinowski, SFMH Chief of Staff, welcomed Dr. Ostapowicz to the new role
