Hallowe’en Hunt now a Valley tradition

The annual scavenger hunt for trick-or-treaters in downtown Barry’s Bay has become a fixture on the Valley calendar, thanks to participation from Madawaska Valley Public Library staff and volunteers, local businesses owners, Barry’s Bay Recreation Committee, StationKeepers MV, and Madawaska Valley Township staff and Council. Yesterday’s fun, family-friendly event included many costumed individuals and groups who braved hail and rain in the afternoon. Above: a group of cheerful scavengers. Photo MV Public Library.

MV Library CEO Natalie Barrington told The Current that 170 Goodie Bags were handed out, a total that nudges last year’s record. She said better weather would likely have brought out more participants.

Barrington also assured residents that MV Library will be open until 8pm for trick-or-treaters on Hallowe’en Night.

Excellent family Hallowe’en activity! Congratulations to all the supporters and participants. This is a terrific, locally-grown community event. Other communities would do well to pay attention.
